Youth Festival -2018 "Ashvariyam "

This blog is part of my academic task.

Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar  University has celebrated three days of Youth festival which has given the name as Ashvariyam Youth festival. This festival celebrated on 26th October to 28th October. In this festival there were many events like  One Act Play , Skit , Mono-acting , Poetry Recitation , on the spot Painting,  Collage, Cartooning, Rangoli, Installation, Photography , Poster Making , Western group song and solo song , Bhajan , Group Traditional Orchestra  etc. So the task given by Dilip Barad  Sir to watch this events and do critical observation and try to connect with various literary terms.

I attended serval events like One act play, Rangoli , Mono act.

One act play :

I have  seen " Sikka ni triji baju " one act play , which was performed by students of english department. As per our study theme of the play was third gender , equality , orthodoxnesss in society. In this play when daughter-in-law was pregnant , at them other family members wants son in family not daughter . This thing also suggest stereotypes about the boy child in family not girl child. When she gave birth to third gender , first off all they hide them from society because society will laugh at them. And never accept as a part of society.

Rangoli :

There were many Rangoli in youth festival. Most of them is the typical traditional Rangoli. One  Rangoli which I like most is this Rangoli. In this Rangoli we can see Nature and technology together. The Nature and technology both are the important part of human life. In this Rangoli both is equally important. Now days technology is most significant part of human life. Facebook ,  Twitter, Google plus , What's app , Blogger , YouTube and Google maps make life easy and fast. With in that the Nature also very important part of life. So in this this two type of things brings together in one Rangoli. It also reflects tradition and modernity in art.

Here We connected this Rangoli with our life. How today's life combination of the nature and technology. And We reflects us in this Rangoli. We the student of Department of English use these all applications in our daily life.So this Rangoli is reflection of English Department.

Mono Act :

Mono act was performed super by one of my classmates. It was also about the stereotypical and patriarchal society. That from past to present society always insulated and discarded the existence of women. Their rights and equality are always ignored by male- dominated society. They will treat them as they want not about their emotions and strength. Nowadays in modern time many changes in position of woman then past time but still stereotypes of society are same as usual.

Thus in youth festival we find many great events like drama, Rangoli. One act play etc... so it is great stage for student to develop there skill.

Theme of Choice and Chance in Harry potter

Theme of choice and chance we see in every series of Harry Potter. In the Very first book of the series begins with Lily’s Choice to protect her son at the cost of her own life. The question of choice v/s chance run throughout the Harry Potter series. The question of chance v/s choice appears first at the end of “Chamber of secrets”, when Riddle/ Voldemort  tells Harry that “It was merely a luckey chance that saved you”.   Throughout the series, Voldemort continues to insist on chance as the cause of his downfall. Dumbledore insists on the importance of personal choice in determining outcome, rather than either chance or fate. The character of harry potter always choose choice in entire series of the novel “Harry...
